Humility vs Entitlement

Humility, a virtue often misconstrued, stands in stark contrast to entitlement. It thrives in the seasons of restraint, obscurity, and vulnerability, not seeking validation or retribution against those who have wronged us.It’s a hidden treasure of the soul, more intrigued by the inner sanctum than the spotlight. Humility is not crushed by life’s trials, but rather, it harnesses them to nurture growth and metamorphosis, finding a tender thankfulness at this delay or barrier to the journey.

Humility lies down and waits—not in a defeated way but in a way that brings peace to the entire body and allows the heart to breathe. Impatience begins to drain from our being, and we begin to listen. The wheels stop, and the ear inclines. The work of hiddenness is big. It can feel tiresome, but mostly when we are fighting it.

Anger drives the need for entitlement. Entitlement is the new disease of pride gone unchecked. It’s a sickness of the soul that satisfies the orphan heart of many unmet needs. It is driven by the pride of life and the heart’s longing to be seen as good.

No one is good of themselves. Not one. Only Christ and He is VERY good. So cease from your works and allow the work of the cross to do its part. Be clothed with humility and recognise that entitlement is a work of the flesh.

Trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
